Needle or Tweezer Epilators
Need epilators introduce a fine wire close to the hair shaft, under the skin, and into the hair follicle. An electric current travels down the wire and destroys the hair root at the bottom of the follicle, and the loosened hair is removed with tweezers.
Tweezer Epilators
These devices also use electric currents to remove hair. The tweezers grasp the h air close to the skin, and energy is applied to the tip of the tweezer. There is no body of significant information establishing the effectiveness of the tweezer epilator to permanently remove hair.
Tweezing
Tweezing is a method of hair removal that consists of pulling out one, or at best a few hairs at a time using metal forceps, or tweezers. This process is painful, and can cause damage to the skin in the form of pitting or scarring. When the hairs are removed using this process, the hair is removed by the root, and several weeks of hair free skin is the result.
Tweezing can be difficult to do on your own, as it may require the use of a mirror. Most people get used to this, with practice and manage very well on their own. Care must be taken however, if the hairs are being removed to shape an area. If the wrong hairs are removed, then the area can look wrong, and it will be several weeks before the hair regrows to rectify the mistake.
Disadvantages:
- Cause ingrown hair.
- For large areas, it can be very time consuming.
