Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
Strictly speaking, laser hair removal cannot be spoken of as permanent;
it is not really hair removal forever. As to date, there is no laser equipment
that has been approved for permanent hair removal but there are those that have
been approved for permanent hair reduction by the FDA.
Hair follicles have three distinct growth phases; Active Growth,
Regressive and Resting. The laser most effectively disables hair that
is in the active growth phase. Our hairs are always in a different growth cycle.
The laser can only disable hair that is in the active growth phase,
it is ineffective on hair that is in any other phase. Therefore,
even after several times of laser hair removal treatment,
there could be hair that reaches the active phase and continues growth.
That is the reason laser hair removal can not really remove hairs forever.
Most people regardless of the kind of skin, male and female
will see that the 80% to 90% of hairs is greatly reduced and
hair which does grow is often much finer and lighter in color after
4 to 6 laser hair removal treatments.
It should be noted that, the number of laser hair removal
sessions needed to achieve results can vary from person to
person depending on many factors such as age, skin type,
amount of hair, hair color, hair texture, etc.
Overall, laser hair removal is still the best option.
Although electrolysis is considered a permanent hair
removal method that has been used for the past 125 years,
electrolysis causes more injury, risk and is more expensive
than laser hair removal.
